A Spring Clean for Cleator Moor
Cleator Moor Town Council have organised a number or litter picks in Cleator Moor to address the litter problem. As part of the Town Council Lengthsman scheme, specific areas of the town have been targeted to carry out litter picks over the coming weeks. The scheme will be delivered by contractors appointed and paid for, by the Cleator Moor Town Council. “Over the past two weeks we have commissioned more than twenty-six hours of litter picking time. This is in response to complaints from the community. We would like to urge residents to do their bit too. If everyone tidied the area immediately outside their own home, it would all help.”
In addition to paying for extra litter picks, Cleator Moor Town Council have lobbied other agencies to tidy their own areas. E-mail requests have been sent to Sustrans, Copeland Borough Council and Vine Property Management who look after Leconfield Industrial Estate. Verbal communication with others in the town have also taken place.
Reports of where dog fouling is prevalent in the town have been sent to the Copeland Borough Council Enforcement Team, with a request to patrol the area. To support this work, the Town Council are issuing free dog bags to Cleator Moor dog owners. Dog owners are may call in at the Town Council Office to collect their supply of bags. The office is normally open Monday to Thursday between 9.00am and 3.00pm
